A young woman accused of kidnapping a three-day-old infant from a Louisiana hospital turned herself in to police Sunday.
The Monroe Police Department said a woman entered the room at St. Francis Hospital where the mother and newborn were staying, on Saturday, saying she was sent by a mutual friend to drop off a baby bag.
They conversed for a little while and the mother left to use the bathroom. According to the report when the mother returned to her room the baby was not in his bassinet.

The end result is that everyone involved is safe, sound and secure. Out of respect for the patient and the ongoing investigation, we are unable to provide any additional details at this time.”
