A Victoria mother has now been charged with first-degree murder in the death of her 18-month-old daughter last year.
On Sept. 16, 2015, Victoria Police were called to a home just before 6 a.m. to check on the welfare of the persons there.
Police found a 18-month-old girl, who passed away despite efforts to resuscitate her. The girl’s mother was also taken to hospital.
Following an investigation by the Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU), with the assistance of Victoria Police investigators and the Westshore RCMP, the mother has now been arrested. Crown has approved a charge of first-degree murder.
