It looked really bad when it happened but it appears Bryan Little’s injury is not very serious.

“Bryan’s not playing tonight, list him as day to day.” head coach Paul Maurice told Jets-TV on Saturday.

Little, 28, injured his neck in the second period in the Jets shootout loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday.  Little was off balanced and leaning over when he was hit by Anton Stralman at the blueline. Stralman was not given a penalty for the hit and he won’t face any supplemental discipline from the league.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

After getting tended to on the ice for quite some time, Little left the game and did not return. He had x-rays on his injured neck but it doesn’t sound like he’ll be gone for a long stretch.

“If we were at home maybe a little more optimistic for our next game.” Maurice said. “He’s got a four hour flight to deal with so we’ll see how he comes off that. We’ll just leave him at day to day but he won’t go tonight.”
