Three men facing dozens of charges following home invasion, SWAT negotiation

REGINA – Three Saskatchewan men are facing a total of 36 charges in connection with a home invasion involving guns last Thursday.

On Jan. 28, Regina Police responded to a break and enter in the 1200 block of Walker Street.

Police say shortly after 3 p.m., three men allegedly entered the residence while a female and male occupant were at home.

According to police, the men were armed with guns and demanded money, as well as other personal property. Police say they then fled the scene in a van. The victims were not injured in the incident.

A 28-year-old suspect was arrested on Jan. 28. After a physical struggle, a 34-year-old suspect was arrested the next evening.

Police found the 36-year-old suspect in a trailer parked at a residence in the 600 block of Pasqua Street on Jan. 30. The suspect was believed to have a gun, so Crisis Negotiators and a SWAT team were called to the location.

After 45 minutes of negotiation, the suspect exited the trailer and was arrested. Officers searched the premises and found a handgun, two pellet guns, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, holsters, several knives, body armour and several items connected to the home invasion.

The trailer, as well as a van and a truck that were located at the same address, were confirmed to be stolen vehicles.

Dustin William St. Denis, 28, from Regina, made his first court appearance on Jan. 29 and faces three charges including Drive While Disqualified, Breach of Probation and Breach of Undertaking. Some of St. Denis’ charges were withdrawn after the two other accused were arrested.

Allen James Haney, 34, from Broadview, Sask. faces 13 charges. Some of his charges include Posession of a Weapon (handgun) for a Dangerous Purpose, Break, Enter and Commit Robbery and two charges of Assault with a Weapon.

Joseph Richard St. Cyr, 36, of Regina faces 20 charges. These include Break, Enter and Commit Robbery, two charges of Assault with a Weapon, as well as Possession of Stolen property over $5,000, Possession of Stolen property under $5,000 and Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Removed.

Haney and St. Cyr made their first appearance in Provincial Court on Monday.
