The adapters were designed for use in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Continental Europe, New Zealand and South Korea; however, these adapters were included in Apple’s World Travel Adapter kit, which means some Canadian consumers may have purchased them.

Apple said the recall does not affect wall plug adapters designed for use in Canada or the U.S.

“In very rare cases, affected Apple two-prong wall plug adapters may break and create a risk of electrical shock if touched,” read a statement from the company. “Apple is aware of 12 incidents worldwide.”

If you believe you may have one of the affected adapters, Apple recommends you stop using it and contact Apple for details about how to exchange it for a redesigned model. More information can be found on Apple’s website.
