Minivan leads police on hour-long chase through southeast Edmonton

EDMONTON- Charges are pending after police said a man driving a minivan led officers on an hour-long chase in an area spanning near Beaumont to southeast Edmonton Wednesday night.

Police didn’t say where, but the pursuit began when the vehicle fled during a traffic stop. Air One, the police helicopter, was in the area and was able to locate the minivan.

A spike belt was deployed several times over the course of the pursuit and eventually brought the situation to an end at around  10 p.m. near 66 Avenue and 98 Street.

The man driving the vehicle was arrested along with a female passenger.

Police didn’t say why they initially pulled over the minivan.
