TORONTO — Police have issued a warrant for a man wanted in connection with a fraud investigation that saw potential investors defrauded of more than $150,000.

Durham Regional Police said a man claiming to be an officer with Nero Financial Inc. and KMOS Group Inc. allegedly convinced six people to invest more than $20,000 each in an opportunity that claimed to “double their money within six months” from 2008 to 2013.

Police said the man targeted seniors and stayed in contact with victims for months before he disappeared.

The man is no longer believed to be in Canada and police said more victims have allegedly been scammed.

Investigators are asking anyone who has had a similar experience with the suspect to contact police.

On Tuesday, a warrant was issued for Oren Anthony Callender, 44, formerly of Ajax, Ont., for six counts of fraud over $5,000.
