WINNIPEG — A 26-year-old Winnipeg man is in custody facing charges that include assault with a weapon after an incident on a bus Tuesday.
The suspect, intoxicated at the time, boarded a bus at 5:45 p.m. near Portage Avenue and Vaughan Street and threw a handful of change at the receptacle, some of it falling to the floor. Following the incident, the driver asked the suspect if he enough money to cover the fare. The suspect then attacked the driver in the upper body.

After a brief struggle the suspect fled the area on foot. Police were provided with a description of the suspect and current location by witnesses.
Approximately 15 minutes later, officers found and arrested the suspect in the 400 block of Spence Street.
It was later revealed that the suspect threatened to stab two other victims in the 400 block of Balmoral Street.
William James Weiss is in custody and faces multiple charges including assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats causing death or bodily harm, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon.
