Taylor Samson’s mother pleads for her son’s body at Sandeson bail hearing

HALIFAX – Linda Boutilier made a desperate plea at Halifax Provincial Court Thursday, to have the body of her son returned so she could properly bury him.

Boutilier is the mother of Taylor Samson, the 22-year-old Dalhousie physics student believed to have been murdered in August by fellow Dalhousie University student, 23-year-old William Sandeson. Samson’s body still has not been found.

“I’m waiting to find my son, the courts can deal with him [Sandeson], I want somebody to help me find my son. I want my son home, if I have to bury him I have to bury him, all I have is memories, I don’t even have him to hold you know, nothing,” she said crying.

Boutilier spoke to reporters outside the court room on Thursday during a bail hearing for Sandeson.

Taylor Samson was reported missing in August, and a search was conducted by police as well as his friends and family.

A few days later, William Sandeson was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. It was determined that Samson had been killed in an apartment on Henry Street on the night of August 15.

“They’re just still searching, they’re just investigating and trying to pin point an area,” Boutilier said.

“They have nothing, they have no idea, they told me, where Taylor could be, and they’re just hoping somebody comes forward with information where Taylor could be.”

After a major search of a large farm in Lower Truro, police found items they thought may be connected to the homicide, however no update has been given on the results of that search.

Defence lawyer Eugene Tan said Sandeson does not have a criminal history and therefore is not at risk to re-offend.

The bail hearing started on Wednesday, and the court heard testimony from two police officers. Details on the bail hearing are under a publication ban.
