EMS was called to a collision Sunday afternoon after a car hit a large wooden power pole.

The impact of the crash knocked down the pole along with several power lines.

Two people were inside the vehicle at the time. A seven-year-old girl was transported to the Alberta children’s hospital in stable condition and a male driver in his 50s was transported to the Foothills hospital in Calgary with lower back injuries.

Paramedics determined that the girl was properly belted into a booster seat at the time of the collision.

Enmax crews were also called to the scene to assist as the power lines that were knocked down in the crash were still energized, however they didn’t come in contact with the vehicle.

Traffic was delayed in the area for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene.
