Fire destroys house in Martensville, Sask.

MARTENSVILLE, Sask. – The Martensville Fire Department was called to extinguish a house fire at 6:30 a.m. Saturday. Firefighters arrived at 220 Enns Crescent to find the occupants of the home had evacuated.

Fire Chief Kurtis Dyck says it took around an hour for firefighters to get the blaze under control. The house appears to be a total loss, according to Dyck.

The flames also spread to one of the neighbouring homes and some siding on the house on the other side of 220 Enns was melted.

Damage is estimated at between $800,000 and $900,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

No one was injured.
