EDMONTON — The Edmonton Police Service says the disappearance of a 42-year-old man is now being investigated by the homicide section.

His vehicle, a black, four-door 2002 Acura 3.2 TL, was found in southeast Calgary around 11 a.m. the same day. He was reported missing that afternoon.

“As we continue to investigate this file, investigators strongly believe that harm has come to Mr. Demkiw,” said Det. Brian Robertson with the EPS Homicide Section.

Eugene Demkiw and his wife, Angeline Demkiw, say their son is a kind man who would never harm anyone. They say their son’s disappearance is like a bad dream.

“It’s like a dream and we wake up and it’s real,” said Eugene. “This is way out of character.”

“He wouldn’t harm anybody so it’s really hard for us to believe that somebody would want to harm him.”

Angeline says Dwayne has two jobs – he works for FedEx during the week and drives for a limousine company on the weekends. He has two sons, aged 15 and 19.

“He was liked by everyone,” said Eugene. “He had a really large circle of friends in Edmonton … A great guy, liked by everyone. A bubbly guy, a great communicator. He was the one that phoned everybody.”

Angeline and Eugene are pleading with the public for their son’s safe return home.

“We have hope that Dwayne is here,” said Eugene.
