Lethbridge police say charges will not be laid in connection with a weapons complaint on Friday morning.
Police were called to H&R Transport on 2 Avenue North around 11 a.m. on a report of a man in possession of a firearm. There were concerns he could be a danger to himself or others.
Employees of the business were asked to stay inside the building and roads in the area were closed off as police searched the parking lot and surrounding area.
A secondary scene was established after police found the man’s vehicle in the Super 8 parking lot on Mayor Magrath Drive South. The 44-year old man was taken into custody around 1:45 p.m. and transported to Chinook Regional Hospital. LRPS received information as to the location of the gun and were in the process of recovering it Friday afternoon.
Police say this is a mental health-related incident, not a criminal matter. As such, no further information will be released.
