Business in Gastown warning the public about “professional thief”

A Gastown business owner wants the public to see his video of an alleged shoplifter, hoping to warn others that a professional thief appears to be hard at work.

It happened Wednesday afternoon at Club Card, a commercial printing shop at 81 West Cordorva. At the time there were a number of customers and staff inside. But that didn’t stop a woman wearing black clothing and black glasses from filling her pockets with leather wallets and other paraphernalia.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

“We were just all shocked at how brazen and bold she was. Literally, she put something in her pocket and turned around to talk to our staff member like nothing happened,” says Mike Wilson, the owner of Club Card.

“It looks like something she does very regularly, and I think any business in the area should be aware of her.”

Police are investigating and will visit with Wilson on Friday.
