Fatal house fire in Toronto ruled a homicide

TORONTO – Police say the man pulled from a fire in Toronto’s Junction Triangle on the weekend was murdered.

Emergency crews were called to a fire at a home in the Dupont Street and Perth Avenue area at around 12:20 a.m. Sunday morning.

When they arrived the second floor of a three-storey building was engulfed in flames. Firefighters pulled the body of a man in his 40’s from the top floor of the building after battling the blaze.

The five other residents got out of the house safely.

The Ontario Fire Marshal was called in to investigate and notified Toronto Police Homicide as a result of their findings.
