On Feb. 27, members of CUPE 3902, including approximately 6,000 teaching assistants, voted to reject a deal, sending them to the picket line.

CUPE says about two-thirds of undergraduate courses at the universities are taught by non-tenured staff who are paid about $15,000 a year.

Thousands of undergraduate students at U of T walked out over the noon hour on Wednesday, demanding a partial tuition refund for cancelled labs and tutorials. A handful of classes have been
cancelled since the start of the strike.
