REGINA – The Regina Pats are doing something professional sport teams rarely do, making their tickets cheaper.
In response to fan feedback at a season ticket holder town hall last month, the team is re-structuring its seating chart for next year.
Eight sections that were previously considered premium gold and more expensive, will be switched to silver for the 2015/16 season.
In addition, the Pats are introducing 175 discounted seats for $300 each on a first come, first served basis.
Those seats are located in the first four rows of sections 105 and 108, as well as section 211.
Kellin Enslev is the Pats director of ticket sales. He said he wouldn’t be surprised if the discounted seats sell out.
“We’ve had quite a few people come in already with interest in filling those seats. Surprisingly enough, 211 is where they’ve started,” he said, noting the other sections are closer to the action.
“As we set a price point going forward, it was in line with the product that we put on the ice… It’s clear that we have the most passionate, loyal fans in the league,” Enslev added.
The Pats are averaging an attendance of just under 4,300 people per game. That’s an incease of almost 500 each game, or 10 per cent from last year, good for the third highest growth rate in the Western Hockey League.
About 2,700 of those are season ticket holders.
