VERNON – The provincial government is predicting there will be a million job openings in B.C. by 2022, but whether young British Columbians will have the right training is another question.
It’s why Work BC has launched a “Find your Fit” tour across B.C. communities, and it touched down in Vernon Friday. Students from a number of area schools able to try out basic skills related to some occupations expected to be in-demand.
“We are also focusing on every in-demand career and job that we are expecting to grow and expand within the province by 2022,” says tour manager Tom Swiecicki.
The initiative is turning the spotlight on occupations where the government feels today’s students will be able to find tomorrow’s jobs.
“The main aim is that we want to ensure that B.C. children are the first in line for the jobs that are available in B.C. by 2022,” says Swiecicki.
