VERNON — A Penticton man picked the wrong store to allegedly steal from.
The attempted theft happened in Vernon last Saturday at M&M Meats where the suspect allegedly tried to make a large purchase with a stolen credit card.
There happened to be an off-duty police officer in the store and the suspect was having some issues with the credit card.
“He felt things did not add up so he called the on-duty officers to come and check them out,” says Vernon RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk.
“From a safe distance he kept an eye on the vehicle and waited for the uniformed members to arrive.”
Police arrested the two suspects. A 31-year-old man remains in custody. His alleged accomplice, a 31-year-old woman has been released but is due back in court in April.
