No jail time for Kelowna pot grower

KELOWNA — The Kelowna marijuana grow-op was discovered more than two years ago.  Now the courts have dealt with the illegal gardener.

In September 2012, the fire department responded to a blaze in a rental house on Old Meadows Road — between Lakeshore Rd. and Gordon Dr.

It was sparked by an extensive electrical system that was set up to grow about 600 marijuana plants.

The Crown dropped a charge of electricity theft against Iain Hebert Rogerson.

But after a trial, the 52-year-old man was convicted of marijuana production and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The judge suspended sentence and put Rogerson on two years probation. He’s also banned from possessing firearms for ten years.
