CALGARY – The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating a man’s death in the community of South Calgary, whose family says he didn’t deserve to die.

“We didn’t think this would ever happen,” said the victim’s brother-in-law, who wished to be identified only as Dale. “We have been taking care of him for quite a while, we are just…we don’t know what to do right now.”

Robert Marx, known as “Joey” by his family, had fallen on hard times. Neighbours said he’d been sleeping in a parking garage below the building in the 1500 block of 28th Avenue S.W. last week, but had been invited to stay in one of the units by a resident who offered the man his couch.
