TORONTO – Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf will miss his fifth straight game with a hand injury when Toronto visits the New Jersey Devils tomorrow night.

In his first full practice with teammates since injuring his right hand before the all-star break, Phaneuf was on the ice for the majority of the time before leaving early.

The 29-year-old expressed disappointment that he’s not able to rejoin the lineup for the Leafs, who are 0-9-1 in their past 10 games.

Coach Peter Horachek said Phaneuf was not travelling with the team to Newark, N.J., but the Leafs are hopeful the defenceman may be ready for Saturday’s game against the Oilers.

Phaneuf suffered the injury in a fight with Ottawa’s Milan Michalek on Jan. 21.

He has two goals and 22 assists in 48 games this season.
