Kelowna Hells Angel and co-accused get 5 years in prison

KELOWNA – The judge has handed down the decision in a case involving a Kelowna Hells Angel and an alleged associate of the biker gang.

Bruce Skreptak and Cory Montemurro have been sentenced to five years in prison less time served.

Skreptak will get 56 days credit and Montemurro will get 312 days credit.

The pair was earlier convicted of numerous firearms charges after police pulled over a vehicle for speeding near Salmon Arm four years ago.

Officers found an arsenal of weapons including three loaded handguns with extra ammunition, a sawed off shotgun, knives, face masks, body armour and a cell phone jamming device.

The officer involved searched the vehicle because he smelled marijuana.

However, Montemurro’s lawyer says they are considering appealing the conviction based on the argument that police didn’t have legal grounds to search the vehicle in the first place.
