KELOWNA – A 31-year-old Kelowna man has been sentenced after an incident in Lake Country in late June where a police cruiser was rammed by a stolen truck. Joseph Semple has been given an 18 month conditional sentence and a two year driving ban. His co-accused, a 21-year-old Grand Prairie, Alberta woman had charges against her stayed.
It all started after a reported theft at a Vernon grocery store. Police were then tipped off that a man and woman involved were in a stolen truck.
A police cruiser was rammed and an officer suffered from minor injuries. The male driver of the pickup truck was cut by glass when police smashed a window to get him out.
