SASKATOON – Police have released a surveillance photo of a man suspect of robbing a River Heights pharmacy last weekend. Saskatoon police are also investigating whether he may be responsible for other pharmacy robberies in the city.

The man, described as six feet tall with a medium to large build, entered the pharmacy in a strip mall at Assiniboine Drive and Warman Road just after 11 p.m.

He took off with an unknown quantity of drugs.

Since September, nine pharmacies have been robbed in Saskatoon. The latest one took place Wednesday when a Broadway Avenue pharmacy was robbed of cash. In the other eight robberies, a specific narcotic was taken, but police haven’t said which one.

“We believe we have a prolific pharmacy robber that is addicted to pharmaceutical narcotics,” said Saskatoon police Staff Sgt. Randy Huisman.

“It makes us also believe that the quantities he’s getting are too much for one person to consume, so we believe he may be providing more to the street.”

Huisman believes the robber is acting alone or at the most with a driver.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 306-975-8300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
