Trans-Canada Highway reopens in Revelstoke after tractor trailer crash

Crews tend to a trailer tractor that lost control on Highway 1 and tipped over on Saturday morning, blocking traffic for several hours.

Traffic has been fully reopened on the Trans Canada Highway west of Revelstoke after it was closed for much of the day due to a vehicle losing control on the slippery highway.

It happened around 8 a.m. on Saturday morning, three kilometres west of Three Valley Gap. A tractor trailer heading westbound crashed into a power pole and then rolled over, blocking both lanes of traffic.

Neither the driver or passenger were injured, but it caused a 42-kilometre stretch of the highway to be closed between Craigellachie and Revelstoke for many hours. Traffic was fully restored in both directions just before 4 p.m.

The driver was issued a ticket for driving without due care.

RCMP are reminding people to drive carefully in the area. It’s the fourth accident near Revelstoke in the past two days.
