VANCOUVER – While the Lower Mainland will be seeing heavy rain and blustery conditions on Friday, heavy snow is falling on some B.C. highways.
A vigorous low pressure system is moving across B.C. and areas such as Rogers Pass and Kootenay pass will see snow falling Friday into the evening. Global BC meteorologist Mark Madryga says these areas can expect up to 20 cm of snow.
The frontal system will move out of the region on Saturday.
The Coquihalla Summit can expect a mix of rain and snow Friday morning, followed by heavier wet snow Friday night. It is expected about 10 cm will fall in this region.
Drivers are urged to make sure they are fully prepared before travelling these highways as this is the first significant snowfall of the season.
