HALIFAX – Police in Cape Breton have safely cleared two high schools that received bomb threats on Wednesday morning.
Classes were cancelled for the day at Memorial High School in Sydney Mines after staff reportedly found a note indicating a bomb threat.
Police evacuated the building and say all students and staff are safe, and a search of the building turned up no evidence of a bomb.
A short time after the first threat, police received reports that a vehicle with a bomb inside was on its way to Glace Bay High School.
Police said they did not find any evidence to support that claim and have cleared the school and surrounding roads to re-open.
Officers will remain on scene for the rest of the day and continue to investigate the source of the alleged threat.
