VERNON, B.C. – The Ministry of Transportation is responding to criticism over a sign on Highway 97 between Vernon and Falkland that was recently removed.
Residents raised concerns about an ‘s’ curve sign being pulled out near the site where a semi crashed last Wednesday.
The transportation ministry says last week’s incident appears to have no direct relation to curve signs.
The ministry says the vehicle went off the road while already well into the curve.
The province confirms that the highway was recently upgraded and in some cases curve signs were removed.
The ministry says the signs were taken out in areas where they are no longer needed for the safe operation of the highway.
