WEST KELOWNA, B.C. — Several items intended for West Kelowna residents were stolen this Thanksgiving weekend.
RCMP say a community mailbox at the intersection of Parkinson Road and Westlake Road was pried open and most of the items inside were taken.
Constable Kent Hall says it happened sometime on Friday night.
He adds this is a common occurrence, especially for mailboxes in rural areas where there aren’t many houses around.
He says there have been over a dozen thefts in the Central Okanagan over the past couple of weeks alone.
He advises residents not to leave mail in the boxes for too long.
“Generally what is recommended is that people either have their mail picked up directly or have Canada Post put a stop on it,” says Hall.
Police are still on the lookout for the suspect, or suspects responsible for this latest theft.
