Firefighters battle two fires in northeast Calgary

CALGARY – Emergency crews were kept busy by two separate fires in the city’s northeast on Monday night.

The first broke out in the 200 block of Saddlemont Boulevard N.E. around 6 p.m.

The flames forced nine people from their homes, including three children.

The second fire broke out just before 10 p.m. in the 100 block of Taravista Way N.E.

Crews arrived to find a detached garage engulfed in flames.

Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control, and prevent it from spreading to an adjacent home.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
