TORONTO — Two of the world’s hottest young music stars are Canadian, according to a list published Wednesday by Billboard.
Justin Bieber, 20, is ranked No. 3 this year on the “21 Under 21” list.
The London, Ont.-born pop star was No. 1 in 2012 and fell one spot last year.
“The slide has been understandable, given the arrests, the various tour fiascoes and the unearthing of a long-forgotten racist video by TMZ, among many other recent debacles,” Billboard reported.
In the No. 8 spot is 16-year-old Shawn Mendes, who makes his debut on the list this year. The Toronto-born singer released an EP this year after building a following of millions on social media.
New Zealand teen Lorde tops this year’s list, up from the No. 6 spot last year.
Also in the Top 10 are 5 Seconds of Summer, Martin Garrix, Fifth Harmony, Austin Mahone, Earl Sweatshirt, Becky G, and Chief Keef.
The rest of the list consists of Luis Coronel, Meghan Trainor, Cody Simpson, Madeon, Bobby Shmurda, Scotty McCreery, Troye Sivan, Rae Sremmurd, Akdong Musician, The Vamps and Unlocking the Truth.
