Early morning armed robberies in Saskatoon

SASKATOON – Two knife-wielding suspects conduct separate robberies during the early morning hours of Sunday in Saskatoon.

Shortly after 1 a.m., a suspect reportedly confronted another man with a knife in the 3500-block of 8th Street East. The 23-year-old victim turned over some cigarettes and the suspect attempted to flee.

When police arrived, the victim was able to point out the suspect who was still in the immediate area.  A short foot chase ensued, resulting in the suspect’s capture.

A 30-year-old Saskatoon man is facing armed robbery charges as a result of an incident.

In a different incident, police heard of an armed robbery just before 3 a.m. at Warman Road and Assiniboine Drive.

A lone male entered a business, produced a knife and what appeared to be bear spray. He demanded cash and cigarettes from the employee behind the counter.

The suspect fled with merchandise and an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect is described as Caucasian male, with a slim build. He was wearing glasses and a black hoodie with a red pattern on the front.

No injuries were reported.
