UPDATE: The fire has expanded to 136 hectares and is zero per cent contained.
NEAR HEDLEY — Another large fire has broken out in the South Okanagan, this latest one in the same area as the Apex Mountain fire.
The Boot Hill fire (aka Nickleplate) was spotted Wednesday and is burning aggressively.
It’s spread to 100 hectares, and is exhibiting extreme fire behaviour; rated at the highest burning level, a Rank 6.
All ground crews have been pulled off the fire.
Air support on the fire is continuing as resources allow.
No structures are immediately threatened.
