Police seek info on Calgary boater missing since May

CALGARY – Police are looking to the public for information about a man believed to have capsized in the Bow River in May.

Emergency crews rushed to the Bow River around 3:30 pm. on May 27th over reports of a capsized dinghy.

A witness observed a man trying to get back into the dinghy after falling out, but said he seemed unable to, and eventually went under the water.

Despite a thorough search by the Calgary Fire Department’s aquatic team, police and the HAWCS helicopter, officials weren’t able to find the man.

On Saturday, June 7, 2014, family and friends reported 44-year-old Stephen Kenneth Samson missing.

He is known to frequent the Bow River in a dinghy with a similar description to the one that was seen on May 27th.

Samson is described as approximately 5’5” tall, 150 lbs., with a medium build, blue eyes and blond hair. He is also known to walk with a limp.

Anyone who may have seen the dinghy flip, or who may have with information about Samson is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or Crime Stoppers.
