TORONTO — Evan Rachel Wood and Jamie Bell are splitting up less than a year after welcoming their first child.
A spokesperson for the couple, who wed in October 2012, confirmed the split to Us Weekly.
“They both love and respect one another and will of course remain committed to co-parenting their son,” the rep said. “This is a mutual decision and the two remain close friends.”
Wood, 26, and Bell, 28, became parents to a boy last July. The couple has been fiercely protective of the baby, even refusing to divulge his name.
It was the first marriage for both. They started dating in 2005 after meeting on the set of a music video but split after a year. The pair rekindled their romance in 2011 after Wood ended her engagement to rocker Marilyn Manson.
Wood, best known for starring on the TV series Once and Again, has been in movies like The Ides of March.
Wood came out as bisexual in 2011. “I wanted to inspire people to be who they are,” she explained. “Maybe help another struggling, terrified 12-year-old know it’s okay. And I didn’t want to feel like I had to hide the women in my life.”
Bell is a British actor who starred in the movie Billy Elliot and made-in-Toronto Jumper.
On Wednesday, Wood tweeted: “Twitter break for a while … to be continued.”
