WINNIPEG – A man was shot early Tuesday on Young Street near Broadway and three men were arrested at the end of the car chase that followed, police say.
Police, who went to Young Street after receiving reports about shots being fired, found two injured men at a duplex on the 200 block. A 21-year-old was shot in the upper body and a 35-year-old was pepper-sprayed, a police news release said.
Police saw a Dodge Caravan leaving the area and pursued it, they said.
The van eventually lost control and crashed near the intersection of Centennial Street and Academy Road.
The people in the vehicle took off and police chased them on foot. They took three men into custody.
A woman who was staying in the upstairs suite of the Young Street duplex said she was told the man who was shot had his hand shattered, and there was mace in the suite when she left her room.
Police continue to investigate but hadn’t laid any charges on Tuesday morning.
