SASKATOON – Firefighters were busy overnight dealing with an attic fire at a home just outside of Saskatoon.
Crews were called to the home near the intersection of the Dalmeny Grid and Claypool Drive at 2:20 Wednesday morning.
Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the attic and started an interior attack. Flames and arcing were found in the northwest corner of the home near an electric roof vent.
The power was shut off and the fire was brought under control in 25 minutes. Crews continued to deal with hot spots for another half hour.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
No injuries were reported and the occupant was able to escape after being alerted to the fire by a smoke detector.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
