Victims of Danforth double homicide shot each other: police

TORONTO – Police say two men involved in a double shooting in east-end Toronto last month killed each other following a “chance meeting.”

The homicides took place in front of The Mediterranean Social Club on Danforth Avenue between Woodbine and Patricia on March 19.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and police say the second victim died in hospital.

Both have been identified as Jonathan Stefan Khan, 21 and Shawn Chestnut-Reddick, 22.

Detective Shawn Mahoney said during a media briefing on the case that the two men knew each other and met “unintentionally” near 2215 Danforth Avenue when an argument ensued.

This led to a physical altercation and then to a shoot out between the two men.

Police say two guns were involved in the incident and one of them was recovered at the scene.

The second gun was taken away by a “third party” and has yet to be recovered. Investigators say this is part of a separate investigation.
