Calgary man faces voyeurism and child luring charges

CALGARY – A 41-year-old man is facing charges after he allegedly installed cameras inside a neighbour’s apartment.

Police were called to a home in the 2500 block of 98th Avenue S.W. on April 5th by a young girl who complained her neighbour had been sending her inappropriate text messages.

The 14-year-old says she has known the man for six years, but alleges he began crossing the line within the last year.

She also told police she had found a camera hidden in her apartment in March, which she believed had been installed during a visit to the home.

The victim tells Global News her neighbour visited their apartment asking to use the bathroom, because he claimed his water wasn’t working.

“He came to our bathroom for like a week every day,” she explains. “He started using it for like five minutes to ten minutes. We got really suspicious.”

“I went up there and I noticed that the mat was placed differently and I saw a blue light. I looked in the vent and I found a camera.”

The next day, police executed a search warrant on the suspect’s apartment and found several electronic devices which are now being examined by a forensic investigators.

Police have charged Chad Barry Robert Stone with voyeurism and luring a child by telecommunication.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, May 7, 2014.
