NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. – A search is underway for a suspect in North Battleford, Sask. after an alleged child abduction attempt on Tuesday evening.

Police say an eight-year-old child was approached at the aquatic centre around 7:30 p.m. by a man who asked the child to go somewhere with him.

He is alleged to have attempted to grab the child at one point and then left in a vehicle when the child did not comply with his request.

Mounties searched the area and building, but the suspect was not located. A review of surveillance video failed to identify the suspect or turn up any additional information. More footage will be reviewed by investigators on Wednesday.

The suspect is described as Aboriginal with a pony tail, glasses and wearing black swim trunks.
