Martin Coiteux has kept the riding of Nelligan for the Liberal party.
Coiteux received 83.9 per cent of the vote, earning a decisive victory. PQ candidate Louis-David Bénard received only 7.6 per cent and the CAQ’s Albert Bitton received 6.6 per cent in early results.
Nelligan has been a Liberal stronghold since 1981. It was last held by Yolande James, who made Quebec history as the first black female MNA and the first black cabinet minister. She stepped down in February.
Coiteux, who is new to politics, is an economist and researcher.
