TORONTO – Several homes needed to be evacuated after a car crash severed a gas line in Etobicoke early Wednesday morning.
The collision happened around 2:30 a.m. on Royal York Road north of Lake Shore Boulevard.

Police are still looking for the driver of the vehicle who fled the scene on foot after the crash.
Crews have been called to cap the leak.
The area for closed to traffic for several hours but reopened just after 7 a.m.
