Cocaine, marijuana seized in Saskatchewan drug bust

MELFORT, Sask. – A nine-month long investigation by several police agencies in Saskatchewan has resulted in the arrest of seven people after a drug bust in three communities.

Police launched Project F-HALFNELSON to investigate drug trafficking and money laundering in Tisdale, Arborfield and Mistatim area.

On March 31, police executed search warrants at two residences and a business in Mistatim, and at separated businesses in Tisdale and Arborfield.

Officers seized 32 pounds of marijuana, two ounces of cocaine, over 230,000 in cash, three commercial and four residential properties and five vehicles.

Evan William Ashdown, 49, from Mistatim is charged with trafficking marijuana and cocaine, possession of marijuana and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, proceeds of crime and money laundering.

Pamela Diana Ashdown, 48, from Mistatim is charged with possession of marijuana and cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, proceeds of crime and money laundering.

Adam Clayton John Arthur, 33, is charge with trafficking marijuana, possession of marijuana and proceeds of crime.

All three are scheduled to appear in Melfort provincial court on Tuesday.

Sheena Elsa Ashdown, 25, and Christopher Ryan Simmons, 29, both from Mistatim, are charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and proceeds of crime.

They are scheduled to appear in Hudson Bay provincial court on April 22 along with Amanda Wiens, 20, and Richard Renaud, 52, also from Mistatim.

Wiens is charged with proceeds of crime and Renaud with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

The operation on Monday involved 67 police officers from various forces in the province.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests may be forthcoming.
