REGINA – Regina police deployed a conducted energy weapon (CEW) early Sunday morning on a suspected impaired driver.
While investigating a different, earlier impaired driver at Pasqua Street and 9th Avenue North around 12:15 a.m., police heard a collision at the same intersection.
Police found a car that had rear-ended another vehicle that was stopped at a red light.
Officers spoke with the driver and suspected the man was impaired.
After multiple demands to exit the vehicle the man attempted to start his vehicle and leave the scene.
Several warnings were given and then the man was subsequently tasered and taken into custody.
Regina EMS transported the man to hospital where he was checked out and cleared.
The man is scheduled to make a court appearance on April 8.
He faces impaired driving, resisting arrest and weapons offence charges.
