CALGARY – A husband and wife from Cochrane have just become $7.2 million richer.
Michael and Deidre Tkachyk won the cash from the March 5th Lotto 649 draw.
“I checked it at the ticket checker, but I didn’t really know how much we’d won – there are no commas in the display,” says Michael. “On the way home, I was thinking about what we could do with $70,000.”

But when Michael checked the winning numbers online, he realized that he and his wife had actually won much more than he thought.
“It was pretty amazing,” says Deidre. “It felt surreal – it still does.”
Michael and Deidre plan to keep working, and aren’t yet sure what to do with their new found wealth.
They bought their winning ticket from Spring Hill Convenience Store.
