The brother of a Calgary woman shot by police Feb. 28, says the shooting was unjustified.

25 year old Ashley Silver was shot in the face last Friday night.  Her boyfriend Jason Roy was killed when officers fired into the truck that he was driving the wrong way down Deerfoot Trail.

Police say the stolen truck was being driven in an extremely dangerous and erratic manner, running red lights and crashing into vehicles before officers stopped it.

Micheal Clark says his sister is kind and compassionate and he claims she was unarmed when she was shot.

Clark has started an online petition in his sister’s name.  Silver remains in hospital recovering from the gunshot wounds.

On the petition Clark says, “only a coward would try to kill an unarmed woman.  Please show your support and we will take any help and advice we can get.”

Police have not revealed if the two were armed. Police Chief Rick Hanson has said the pair took “actions our officers clearly saw as being life threatening.”
