TORONTO – Health officials in North America are recalling three different Britax Child Safety baby strollers because of potential finger injuries that vary from lacerations to “partial amputations,” according to a U.S. recall notice.
Health Canada says the recalled strollers were manufactured between March 1, 2011 and June 10, 2013 with the following models:
B-AGILE Single Strollers (in B-Agile Black, Red, Sandstone and Kiwi), B-AGILE Double Strollers (in B-AGILE Double Red and Double Black), and BOB MOTION Single Strollers in (Bob Motion Black, Navy and Orange).
The strollers list the manufacture date on the inside of the frame near the right rear wheel. Model numbers can be found on the Health Canada recall notice here.
Britax, the company manufacturing the strollers, says the products pose a “laceration hazard” from the holding hinges for anyone folding the stroller.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission notice lists the hazards as “partially amputate consumers’ fingertips, break their fingers or cause lacerations.”
Neither Britax nor Health Canada has received reports of injuries in Canada. But eight injury reports have been filed in the U.S.
Some 8,850 strollers were sold in Canada and another 215,784 strollers were sold in the United States between March 2011 and June 2013, according to the recall notice.
Health Canada says consumers can order a free remedy kit by visiting the company’s website, calling their toll free number or by email.
