South Edmonton death confirmed a homicide

EDMONTON – Following an autopsy, Edmonton police confirmed the death of a 25-year-old man, who was found in a south Edmonton motel parking lot Wednesday morning, was a homicide.

Police say Aaron Cote, of Saskatchewan, was fatally stabbed.

At around 2:40 a.m. on Wednesday, police found Cote suffering stab wounds in the parking lot of the Travelodge motel near 45 Avenue and Gateway Boulevard.

Witnesses told police that a fight broke out between several men in the parking lot of Diamonds Gentlemen’s Club before ending in the Travelodge parking lot.

The victim was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries.

“If anybody was around on Gateway Boulevard at that time early in the morning and saw a white Ford F150 driving erratically… please contact police immediately,” said EPS spokesperson Scott Pattison.

Between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, Edmonton police were called to three separate stabbings.
