Residents living above a downtown restaurant were evacuated safely after a fire late Monday night.
Peterborough Fire Services responded to the report of flames in the restaurant’s windows around 10:30 p.m.
Two crews worked to put out the flames, while a third crew ensured the safety of residents.
The restaurant and retailer, Indian Peacock, has extensive damage from the fire and the rest of the building is left with minor smoke damage.
The estimated cost of damages is $125,000 and the cause of the fire is under investigation by fire services and Peterborough Police.
